Lorraine Kelly, a beloved British talk show host, has collaborated with Scottish singer Marti Pellow to create an inspiring charity single aimed at raising awareness for breast cancer. The new version of “Love Is All Around,” the classic hit by Wet Wet Wet, features a choir made up of women who have bravely battled breast cancer after being encouraged by Kelly’s show, Lorraine.

Celebrating Family and Love

At 64, Kelly is not only celebrating the launch of her new charity single but also the arrival of her baby granddaughter, Billie, born this past August. Kelly shared a touching moment from her life, stating, “30 years ago, my daughter Rosie was born, and I was listening to the song. Here we are 30 years later, and we will be playing our version of the song to Billie all the time. So hopefully she’ll be singing it; it will be the first thing that she says, which would be really nice.” For Kelly, this project brings a sense of closure and joy, binding her family’s past with its present.

Empowering Women Through Music

The “Change and Check” campaign has been a passion project for Kelly for the past six years, emphasizing the importance of recognizing breast cancer symptoms. The campaign has already made a significant impact, with over 100 individuals contacting the Lorraine program to share that they received their diagnosis due to the awareness raised through the show.

The charity single from last year, “Golden,” which featured Joss Stone and the Change and Check choir, topped the UK singles downloads chart, proving that music can be a powerful tool for change. Kelly reflects on the joy of recording this year’s track, stating, “It was fantastic because we were in a proper, real, true recording studio. It was joyful, and the fact that we’re all in it together, this amazing sisterhood along with Marti, felt very, very special.”

A Joyful Recording Experience

Pellow, known for his heartfelt performances with Wet Wet Wet, expressed his excitement about recording at Rak Studios, a location renowned for producing numerous iconic records. He remarked, “We were at a place called Rak Studios, which has made so many incredible records over the years. It really is up there with Abbey Road. For us to go there to Rak Studios and capture that moment was a joy.”

The emotional experience was echoed by both Kelly and Pellow, who noted the camaraderie and heartfelt moments shared during the recording. “Marti said, ‘You will feel at the end of this something really positive and very emotional.’ And it really was; there were a lot of tears,” Kelly shared.

Making a Difference

The new single will officially be available for download starting Monday, with all proceeds being donated to the Future Dreams breast cancer charity. The collaboration between Kelly, Pellow, and the Change and Check choir embodies not just artistic expression but also a commitment to making a real difference in the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

Kelly and Pellow plan to perform the charity single live on Lorraine this week, broadcasting from 9 am on ITV1. This live performance is expected to highlight not only the song’s uplifting message but also the importance of ongoing breast cancer awareness and support.

How You Can Help

Listening to and sharing their new single is one way fans and the public can support the cause. Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Download the single: Every purchase contributes to breast cancer research and support services.
  • Spread the word: Sharing the single on social media can help raise awareness for the Change and Check campaign.
  • Get screened: Regular check-ups can help detect breast cancer early, possibly saving lives.

In the spirit of love and solidarity, Kelly’s project stands as a reminder of the power of community and advocacy through music. With a meaningful cause at its heart, the collaboration promises to touch many lives beyond the recording studio walls.

Lorraine Kelly’s latest charity effort demonstrates how personal experiences, music, and community spirit can come together to support a vital cause. By leaning on the healing power of song and shared experiences, Kelly hopes to encourage others not just to listen but also to take meaningful action in the fight against breast cancer
