The recent events at the Paralympics have been nothing short of inspiring, showcasing extraordinary dedication and performance from athletes across various sports, particularly in paracanoeing.
On the penultimate day of the Games at the Stade Nautique de Vaires-sur-Marne in Paris, the British canoeing team excelled, clinching two gold and two silver medals. Charlotte Henshaw and Hope Gordon dominated the newly introduced VL3 sprint event, with Henshaw sealing her second Paralympic gold after shifting from swimming to paracanoeing. Her infectious enthusiasm and determination came through as she led the race from the start, overcoming her doubts about transitioning to a new sport.
Emma Wiggs added another gold to her collection by winning the VL2 sprint, marking her fourth Paralympic medal. Her resilience shone through after facing personal challenges, including injuries and a tough year since Tokyo 2020.
