Travelers departing from London Stansted Airport can now enjoy a new level of luxury, thanks to Emirates’ latest investment in a premium lounge. Opened on September 19, 2024, the airline’s new 900-square-metre space sets a high bar for comfort and service, designed specifically for first and business-class passengers, as well as Emirates Skywards members.
Investment in Luxury
Emirates has poured over £4 million into this state-of-the-art lounge, which can accommodate up to 125 guests. It is the first dedicated airline lounge at Stansted, joining the existing Escape Lounge that caters to all travelers for a fee starting at £31.99 per person.
“We want to offer something that elevates the travel experience,” said Mohammed Mattar, divisional senior vice president at Emirates. “The new lounge reflects our commitment to providing world-class hospitality both in the air and on the ground.”
A Taste of Gourmet Dining
One of the standout features of the new lounge is its “farm to table” gourmet menu, created in partnership with Sussex-based Full Circle Farms. Passengers can enjoy:
- Premium wine and champagne
- Signature spirits and liqueurs
- A selection of fresh, locally sourced dishes
The lounge also includes modern amenities, such as complimentary Wi-Fi and private shower facilities, ensuring that travelers can relax before their flights.

Convenience and Accessibility
Located in Satellite 1, adjacent to the departure gates, the lounge offers excellent views of the airport. Passengers can board their flights directly from the lounge, cutting down on the travel time from relaxation to takeoff.
Gareth Powell, managing director at Stansted Airport, celebrated the addition: “This new world-class lounge is fantastic news for our passengers. It reinforces the airline’s commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience, particularly for those flying to Dubai and beyond.”
Emirates operates two daily flights from Stansted to its international hub in Dubai, serving as a gateway for UK travelers headed to numerous destinations. With 14 weekly flights, the airline has made a significant impact since beginning its service from the Essex airport in 2018.
Flying with Emirates
Emirates provides access to over 85 global destinations from Stansted, which includes popular cities such as:
- Madagascar
- Mauritius
- South Africa
- Japan
- India
- Vietnam
- Thailand
- Singapore
This extensive route network enhances the travel options for Stansted passengers, who have consistently relied on budget airlines like Ryanair and easyJet for their flights.
The Growth of Stansted Airport
Stansted Airport has experienced robust growth recently. August 2024 marked the airport’s busiest month ever, with over three million passengers. In that month alone, more than 103,700 travelers passed through Stansted on August 23, marking it as the busiest day in its history.
The increase in foot traffic at the airport highlights a growing interest in travel, especially to preferred summer destinations such as:
- Spain
- Italy
- Turkey
With overall passenger numbers reaching 29.26 million over the past year—a 7.8% increase from the previous year—Stansted is quickly positioning itself as a major player in the UK travel market.
