Luke McGregor also shared how his mother’s presence helped him cope with his health anxiety. “I’ve got a lot of health anxiety,” he admitted, revealing that the worries of not having access to medical care during their travels weighed on him. However, he found comfort in having his mother by his side, a source of stability throughout their adventure. “If something bothered Mum, I would be more worried about Mum than I was me,” he explained.
Shared Goals and Future Plans
If Luke and Julie had succeeded in winning the $100,000 prize, they intended to donate it to the Mudgin-Gal Women’s Centre in Redfern. For McGregor, this cause held significant importance as it serves Indigenous women and children—a mission close to his heart, especially given his family’s connection to Indigenous heritage.

Although the McGregors did not reach the finish line, Luke described the experience as “really cool,” comparing the race to being in “one big escape room.” This celebrity version of the competition not only offered exciting challenges and a platform for charitable giving but also served as a unique opportunity for personal growth and strengthened familial bonds.

In their post-elimination interview, McGregor reflected on the dynamics of travelling and working closely with his mother. Other than the dancing, Christmas won’t be too awkward,” he assured fans.
