“Quizzing on The Chase has become second nature after so many years,” Ryan explained. “When I’m in the quiz format, I shift into a different mindset, where I don’t focus on the potential perception of making a mistake. If I were to think about how millions are watching, it would be impossible to perform.”
This perspective highlights her ability to compartmentalize the pressures of her public role, allowing her to engage deeply with the quiz format while minimizing self-doubt.
The Joy of Live Interaction
Ryan elaborated that while she finds the nerves associated with live performances intimidating, the experience also brings immense satisfaction. “It’s hugely rewarding to be in a room with a couple of hundred people, sharing in an experience together,” she said.
She recognizes that performing live brings a unique connection with the audience, which is different from her role on television, where the interaction is less direct. “In theater, you’re all in the same space, sharing this one lovely experience. It’s quite intimidating seeing those faces looking up at me, but the nerves are there because I genuinely want everyone to enjoy the show,” Ryan said.
A Balance of Passions
Despite the excitement of her upcoming performances, Ryan clarified that she does not intend to abandon her role on “The Chase.” She has cherished quizzing since childhood, having fond memories of participating in quizzes with her grandfather. “Quizzing is a huge part of my life; it’s one of the first things I ever did,” she mentioned, emphasizing how integral it has been to her identity.
“My dream job is being part of ‘The Chase’ and its spin-off ‘Beat the Chasers.’ I absolutely love television, making people happy, and quizzes. Why would I ever want to give that up?” Ryan stated emphatically.
