Launched in collaboration with the LA Promise Fund, the academy originally opened in 2021 during the pandemic, even as many struggled to adapt to the changes. Westbrook’s wife, Nina, shared in an interview with Good Day LA the importance of creating a safe and inviting space for students. “When you’re in a space and you feel good and it feels comfortable and safe, then you have the best opportunity to succeed,” she said.
