The Superoos decisively defeated Bridgewater, marking their return to the grand final with a commanding 50-30 victory at Inglewood’s Centre State Scaffolding Oval.
Superoos Secure Grand Final Berth
Coached by Jen Wilson, Mitiamo’s performance displayed strength and dominance across all areas of the court. After an unexpected setback in the prior round, the Superoos managed to regroup effectively, demonstrating their capability to perform under pressure. Their journey through the finals is especially notable, as last week, they faced an upset from Pyramid Hill, resulting in a 55-46 loss in the second semi-final.
Bridgewater, coached by Caz Wood and Olivia Collicoat, displayed commendable effort in reaching the preliminary finals, having journeyed through elimination matches. They commenced with a close 36-32 win against Bears-Lagoon Serpentine and followed this with a convincing 58-38 score against Newbridge in the first semi-final. However, the curtain fell on their season as Mitiamo asserted control in the preliminary final.

Mitiamo maintained their lead throughout the contest, steering clear of any significant challenges from Bridgewater. - B-grade: Newbridge vs Marong at 1:30 PM
- C-reserve: Maiden Gully YCW vs Marong at 1:30 PM
- A-grade: Pyramid Hill vs Mitiamo at 3:15 PM
Marong Panthers’ Successful Afternoon
The Marong Panthers had an equally successful preliminary final day, securing four victories across various categories. In the B-grade preliminary final, Marong narrowly overcame Pyramid Hill with a score of 44-40. The C-grade match was a nail-biter, ending with a 36-35 win for the Panthers against Pyramid Hill.
Young Talent Shines
Marong also triumphed in the C-reserve play-off, defeating Bridgewater 33-26. In addition, their 17-and-under team advanced to the decider after edging out Bridgewater with a narrow 34-32 victory. This remarkable display of talent across the board highlights the strength of the Marong club, positioning them strongly for the finals ahead.
Calivil United’s Dominance in Younger Divisions
On the other hand, Calivil United also made a strong showing, securing spots in three grand finals. The Demons’ 15-and-under and 13-and-under teams will be competing for titles after impressive victories in their respective preliminary finals. The 15-and-under team defeated Maiden Gully YCW 50-27, while the 13-and-under team edged past Inglewood with a score of 33-21.
