Pittman expressed pride in the team’s performance, especially given the offensive struggles of the previous season. “Bobby, I’m sure he feels pretty good tonight,” Pittman said. “Ten tries and 10 touchdowns, that’s hard to do. I don’t care who you play.” This success has rekindled hope for a fanbase eager for a resurgence, particularly after a disappointing 4-8 record last year.
Green has also drawn comparisons to previous Razorback legends, with fans noting his similarities to former quarterback Matt Jones and even Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson, both of whom excelled in the dual-threat role. “We’ve seen him at practice, and we thought he’d play like he did,” Pittman remarked. “We didn’t know how well he would run. We knew he was fast, but we just hadn’t seen it.”
With a commanding presence at 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, Green’s physical attributes complement his agility. Petrino noted his progress in refining mechanics and throwing techniques. Since joining the Razorbacks, Green has improved significantly, correcting his throwing mechanics and becoming a more accurate passer. Over the past two seasons at Boise State, he accumulated 3,794 passing yards and a notable rushing record, but adapting to SEC competition is an entirely different challenge.
Arkansas has bolstered its offensive line this offseason, introducing three new starters via the transfer portal. The line’s effectiveness will be crucial in protecting Green as they face tougher opponents, including the upcoming game against No. 17 Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys’ defense poses a legitimate challenge, having averaged two sacks per game last season. Hence, protecting Green will be pivotal, as Pittman acknowledged, “We didn’t have really pressure problems, but they didn’t pressure us either,” referring to the Razorbacks’ previous matchup.
Green’s dual-threat capability makes him a wildcard, but it also necessitates disciplined defensive strategies from opponents. Oklahoma State’s coach Mike Gundy stressed the importance of containment, recognizing that players need to take him into account when structuring their defense.
